James Melican, chairman of Manifest's US partner, PROXYGovernance has joined Directorship magazine’s 100 most influential people in US boardrooms. 'Directorship' is a leading US website and business magazine for board directors and corporate governance professionals. Its annual D100 list of the “most influential” persons in the boardroom was released on Oct. 14 naming PROXY James Melican in the “Watchdogs and Governance Advisors” category.

The magazine notes that PGI "takes both a long-term and specific approach to proxy advisory, analyzing company leadership on an “issue-by-company” basis, observing individual company metrics rather than simply taking a standard one-size-fits-all stance on specific issues. Melican is a governance expert, having served on a number of legal committees related to the topic, including with the American BarAssociation, for which he has helped author the last three editions of the Corporate Directors’ Guidebook. Prior to his work atProxy Governance, he was executive vice president at International Paper".

US President Barack Obama was named the single most influential person in the boardroom for his “aggressive response to unparalleled economic challenges…”

Directorship is published by the National Association of Corporate Directors which surveys its 15,000 public company director readers and its board of advisors to develop its D100 selections.
